SOLD ::: 1998 Shamrock 246 Open Center Console FWC For Sale $29,950

Well, the opportunity has presented itself for us to move up to a 35'-40' Sportfish, so it's time for me to pass on Sea~Chelle to a new owner to enjoy as much as my family has.

This boat has been absolutely awesome to own, maintain and operate. I still FIRMLY believe that the 246 Open is the one of the best Family and Fish boats available. One day you can be snorkeling in the bay with a boat load of kids, the next day you can be 50 miles offshore fishing for marlin. I have owned many different types and styles of boats, but this 246 Open is, no doubt, my favorite.

Oil changes have been performed every 50-60hrs using Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 15-50 racing oil. Mobil 1 Oil Filters have also been used. Racor Fuel Filters have been changed every 50hrs as well. We have added MANY upgrades to this boat, making her easier to fish, and a joy to handle. In many ways this boat is better than new with all thru-hull fittings replaced from plastic to quality stainless steel. Also all hatch latches and drink holders were changed from plastic to stainless.

The engine is Fresh Water Cooled, this means no saltwater ever touches the internals of the engine. The engine is cooled by a heat exchanger and oil cooler (Engine and Trans oil cooler). This keeps the inside of the engine corrosion and rust free.

All vinyl and t-top canvas on this boat were re-done by a professional vinyl/canvas shop in 2012. T-Top Enclosure Glass was new in 2014. Bow Cushions are all in MINT condition. Rear fold-down seat and bow dinette table are all included as well.

Lots of preventative replacements have been done on this boat. The engine purrs like a kitten and starts up on the first key turn every time.

Dedicated wash down pump, Dedicated Livewell pump. New Whale Gulper Fishbox pump. LED lights in livewell so you can actually see what you are scooping for!

    Shamrock 246 Open Straight Inboard

    LOA: 24' 6"
    Beam: 8' 6"
    Weight: 4,300lbs
    Daft: 24"
    Fuel Capacity: 110gal (2 x 55gal tanks)
    Livewell/Baitwell: 45gal
Fishboxes: 2 in floor, 3 in bow

    Power
5.7L 315hp HO TBI SeaMaxx FWC - Fresh Water Cooled
    Engine Model No: SLAWFL15EFI
    Engine Hrs: 730hrs
Batteries: DieHard Marine AGM Platinums - Group 31M (over $300/ea, new summer 2014)

Tunnel Drive Prop Pocket - this is not a keeled Shamrock.

    Fuel Usage
I can without a doubt say this is the most fuel efficient boat I've ever owned. Heavy load = Full tanks, Full Ice, Full of Adults, Full Tackle/gear. Loaded for an overnight trip offshore.

It is common for us to fish offshore all day, running 40-50 miles offshore, trolling all day, running back and never having to switch to the second tank, burning less than 55gals of gas.

    In Nautical Miles
    Trolling 8-10knts = 1.5gph = 6.6 knmpg
    Fast Cruise - light load @ 25knts/3500rpm = 10gph = 2.5 knmpg
    Fast Cruise - heavy load @ 25knts/3500rpm = 12gph = 2.1 knmpg
    WOT - light load: 34knts @ 4600 rpms
    WOT - heavy load: 32knts @ 4300 rpms

    In Statute Miles
    Trolling 9-12mph = 1.5gph = 8 mpg
    Fast Cruise- light load @ 29mph/3500rpm = 10gph = 2.9 mpg
    Fast Cruise- heavy load @ 29mph/3500rpm = 12gph = 2.4 mpg
    WOT - light load: 40mph @ 4600 rpms
    WOT - heavy load: 37mph @ 4300 rpms

I have a maintenance log on this boat that goes back to when we purchased it in 2011.

This boat is turn-key. We had it 100 miles offshore twice in the last two months fishing the oil rigs. Without a doubt, this is the BIGGEST fishing 24' boat you will find. The engine inboard gives you TONS of fishable space that other boats just don't have.

Boat is in Pensacola right now, dry stored on rack. NEVER had bottom paint, always a trailer queen or rack stored. Will likely be coming home (Valdsota, GA) sometime in Early Dec.

Price is $29,000. We have WAY more invested in this boat than we are asking, boat is turn-key ready to head offshore. Call/text/email if you have any questions or would like to setup a viewing.

Defiantly one of the best Boat for Sale ads I've seen. It probably should be made a sticky and used as a template. Good luck with the sale...spring is coming.

Been a LONG time since I've posted here. I think the 246 open is one of the great layouts. Tons of room can do anything on the water.

Had a hard time selling mine a while back. It ended up in Europe.

Might want to think about using a broker. For some reason buyers of Shamrock seem to "trust" a broker when buying inboards. I have no reason why just my experience.
