Here's my grandson with his first Ptarmigan he got a month or so back with his dad (my son) on their snow-machines. He got it with the single shot Remington 22 I learned to shoot with when I was his age and his dad said the shot was a good 50 yards or so. I couldn't be prouder!

His first ptarmigan, but more importantly a great day with his dad and a memory that he will be able to share with his children some day. Congratulations.

Thanks! My son and his family love Alaska and are not likely to leave (he and his wife actually moved back up after he got packaged out from his first job outside - he went to work for WorldCom after college, ouch!), so we're staying here to be close to the grandkids to share moments like this one. We've been up here for 46 years now and not going anywhere - it's home now.

    Great pic!

I learned to shoot on that same rifle. I can't remember if my grandpa bought it for my dad or my dad bought it, but either way, I still have that rifle and the receipt. $12 and change.
